Sydney’s biggest comedy event returns with a programme full-to-the-brim with laughs.
More than 210 international, Australian and local comedians will take to the stages of Sydney this April and May for Sydney Comedy Festival (SCF).
This year marks the return of international acts – acts including David O’Doherty (IRE), Jason Byrne (IRE), Mark Watson (UK), Melanie Bracewell (NZ), The Dollop (USA), Larry Dean (SCO), Jason Leong (MYS) and Nemr (LBN).
A lot of the laughs will come from our own backyards too – Judith Lucy & Denise Scott, Wil Anderson, Aunty Donna, Aaron Chen, Becky Lucas, Luke Heggie, Steen Raskopoulos, Karen From Finance and Rhys Nicholson are all set to present new, side-splitting shows.
‘SPIN – ELECTION 2022’, presented by ‘The Chaser’’s Charles Firth, ‘The Shovel’’s James Schloeffel and ABC’s Mark Humphries, will provide audiences with a masterclass in the ancient art of lying.
New variety show ‘Mystery Flight’ will be brought to SCF by Elouise Eftos and Ruby Teys, while TikTok star Samantha Andrews presents ‘No Hat No Play! The Cabaret’. Returning in 2022 are ‘Manbo’ (Sam Dugmore) and ‘Schapelle Schapelle – The Musical’.
Scientist Dr Karl presents ‘The Steam Room: A Night Of Science Comedy’ and TikTok comedy sensation and ‘Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical’ songwriter Gabbi Bolt makes her solo festival debut.
“If ever the world needed a laugh, it is amid these turbulent, pandemic-ridden, torrential-rain-flooded, Molotov-cocktail-recipe-sharing times in which we live,” Festival Director Jorge Menidis says. “So good people of Sydney, we will bring it and you should do everything you can to lap it up.”
Sydney Comedy Festival runs from 25 April-22 May.
