The Sunshine Coast Comedy Festival (SCCF) is bringing a brilliant and diverse array of acts to the coastal community, over four days of non-stop hilarity.
As the Sunshine Coast’s only comedy festival, SCCF has a responsibility to ensure audiences are entertained. Now, in its third year, they continue to pride themselves on bringing internationally-renowned, multi award-winning artists across the coast, from Caloundra to Gympie, from the Hinterland to the beach.
Australian comedy royalty headlines the first artist announcement – Tommy Little and Cal Wilson, as well as two of the country’s most loved comedy performers, Ivan Aristeguieta and Heath Franklin’s Chopper.
Fun, playful, inclusive and accessible, the rest of the 2022 programme promises to be rich and diverse, with activations in almost all major hubs within the region and a mixture of high-end and unique, tourism-focused, out-of-the-box events – boats, buses and breweries to name a few.
Tommy Little has been the host of the Just For Laughs stand-up series from the Sydney Opera House for the last few years, and he regularly sells out his live shows across the country. He’s a regular co-host and correspondent on ‘The Project’ and also co-hosts a national radio show with Carrie Bickmore.
Cal Wilson came across the Tasman in 2003, and has gone on to become one of the country’s most popular comedians. She’s been seen on ‘Spicks And Specks’, ‘Good News Week’, ‘Thank God You’re Here’ and more recently ‘Would I Lie To You?’ and ‘Have You Been Paying Attention?’.
Ivan Aristeguieta has been winning Australia over with a vibrant, energetic brand of comedy, since he immigrated from Venezuela a decade ago. He’s gained a mass of fans for his cheerful and naive rejoicing in the troubles and joys of living in the lucky country. He was nominated for Most Outstanding Show at the 2021 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
As ‘Chopper’, Heath Franklin is an Australian cultural and comedy icon. He’s got his own TV show, comedy specials, ARIA nominations, a Logie nomination. . . The man behind it all is Heath Franklin, an Australian actor, performer, and writer. He’s currently working on new TV and stage projects.
Sunshine Coast Comedy Festival is on from 10-13 November.
