Australian comedy dynamo Sammy J returns to his musical roots when he performs songs from his ARIA-nominated album 'Symphony In J Minor'.
He's kicking things off at Brisbane Comedy Festival, and during the tour he'll also return to Adelaide Fringe.
"I started my career singing comedy songs in Adelaide, and I suspect I will finish my career by singing comedy songs in Adelaide,” Sammy laughs.
"I like to think I've become better at writing comedy songs over the years, so this show has my most recent numbers along with some old favourites – so old that I'm going to call them 'vintage'.”
For 'Symphony In J Minor', Sammy will be joined on stage by cello virtuoso Richard Vaudrey, adding maturity and depth to the otherwise inconsequential numbers.
"What do you get if you cross a comedy song with a cello?” Sammy asks. “No idea, but I can't wait to find out."
One of Australia's most surprising talents, Sammy J has established a firm reputation as a comedian by wielding an unassuming and witty style of comedy.
With his 'Symphony In J Minor' album, Sammy has expanded his reach to welcome grandparents and toddlers into his fold. For the live shows, Sammy hopes to leave a lasting impact on audiences.
“If just one child out there learns how to do the 'NBN Rollout', or sings along to 'There’ll Be Someone At My Funeral Who Doesn’t Want To Be There', then the whole show will have been worth it,” he says.
