Sam Morril Brings His Class Act Down Under

Sam Morril
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Fast-rising New York stand-up Sam Morril has sold out venues across America and the UK this year already, and before 2023 is out, Sam is hitting Australia with the ‘Class Act’ tour.

Sam was a regular on Comedy Central's 'This Week At The Comedy Cellar', where he appeared frequently when not touring. He's appeared on shows like 'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert', 'The Late, Late Show With James Corden', and 'Conan'. Sam has also released three stand-up albums, 'Class Act', 'Positive Influence', and 'I Got This'.

Alongside stand-up, Sam is also known for co-hosting the podcast 'We Might Be Drunk' with Mark Normand, plus he's voiced several characters in the current MAX animated series 'Ten Year Old Tom', and was recently a guest on 'That's My Time With David Letterman'.

Before Sam hits our shores, we had a chat to him about the show he'll be bringing to our shores: 'Class Act'.

You’ve already sold out shows in America and the UK this year. What’s it like to have that kind of a reception?
It feels really good, but it’ll never fill the hole.

What’s your favourite thing about stand-up?
I just really like delayed flights.

Was there a particular comedian that inspired you to give it a go?
Who wrote the book 'Everybody Poops'?

How did you get your start?
Harvey Weinstein discovered me. I owe everything to that man.

Tell us about an audience story/experience that stands out most for you in your career thus far.
Telling a story about receiving oral sex from a stranger while seeing my mom cover her face in horror in the fourth row. They should’ve sat her further back.

Have you been to Australia before? What are you most looking forward to about playing here?
The easy commute.

To a newcomer, describe your comedy style in one sentence.
Thanks for newly coming.
