Rosie Jones bubbles over with her signature cheeky charisma in her award-nominated show 'Triple Threat'.
Creating a comfortable space for the crowd to truly lose their inhibitions and chaotically snort laugh, Rosie is an expert in her craft. Explaining to the crowd that her show contains only three jokes gets everyone giggling straight off the bat – and of course there are far more laughs throughout the hour-long show.
Making jokes about her disability – cerebral palsy, her sexuality and, of all things, David Attenborough, 'Triple Threat' is a show rich in well-constructed material and packed full of clever content. Questioning if she will ever break through to become a national treasure in her home of the UK is a recurring theme, and after a show this good she should watch out because, as we are prone to doing, Australia might just adopt her as one of our own because this lady is deserving of that national treasure status from somewhere!
Rosie is completely charming and knows how to work the crowd; a slight glance, lean or smirk eliciting an extra bit of laughter that she manages to coax and build into a rolling deep chortle shared by everyone in the room. The slower pacing which Rosie embraces allows her to make the most of a style which relies on a slow reveal of the punchline, which often goes to unexpected places. Rosie is a sweary human, so if words offend, steer clear, because Rosie loves to lean into all the options that the English language gives us to play with and it’s not at all gratuitous – she does it artfully and with utter delight.
Ultimately 'Triple Threat' is a joyful show, one which will leave you feeling lighter, and smirking through the night as you recall how smart the jokes within it were.
