Kiwi icon Rhys Darby returns to the Australian stage after almost a decade, in his aptly-titled tour ‘The Legend Returns’.
The show is built on the introspective thought: in a world full of AI and robot tech. . . Can a simple dad with slightly tight jeans stay relevant?!
Ancient Astronaut Theorists say yes, and in his show, Rhys hopes to prove that right now, a touch of (very human) silliness is more important than ever before. It turns out his unique skills, once thought of as ‘absurd’, might just be useful after all.
Rhys has been treading the boards of stand-up since the mid-‘90s. . . But he’s perhaps best known for his on-screen work in the likes of ‘Flight Of The Conchords’, ‘Our Flag Means Death’, and the renewed ‘Jumanji’ universe. He’s also a prolific voiceover artist who has appeared in more than 50 animation roles, plus, he’s written four books, and has New Zealand’s longest-running podcast ‘The Cryptic Factor’.
“I’m so excited to return to the stage, a bit older, a bit wiser but mostly a bit sillier than ever before!” Rhys says.
Tickets are on sale 22 November.
