If the title alone doesn’t have you intrigued, then I don’t know what will.
When offered the opportunity to review this show, I knew I could not turn it down. Now comedy shows are a dime a dozen at Adelaide Fringe, but every comedian has something unique to offer and I don’t know if you will find one quite like Vanessa Larry Mitchell.
A woman after my own heart, she hits the stage and sets the expectations from the beginning. Vulgarity done in the best way, she is filthy and funny right from the get-go. If you aren’t ready for these kinds of honest conversations about what it means to be a woman unashamed in this day and age, then this show may not suit your palate.
Luckily, though, I am pretty much the target audience.
It is definitely a show for the 20s and up, but when I say up, there was a great spectrum of ages in the audience, and nobody was being precious. From anecdotes that anybody can appreciate, to specific tales that most vagina owners can relate to, it is so refreshing to hear somebody laugh so openly and actively speak without shame.
Dating and sex is a minefield as a woman, especially once you start getting past your 20s, and Vanessa Larry Mitchell covers the spectrum. The best thing, though, is that nothing feels forced. It genuinely feels like catching up with your funny friend over drinks, discussing the trials and tribulations of sex and womanhood.
The hour flew by.
