Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and some beyond.

It’s almost time to laugh until it hurts: Perth Comedy Festival is nearly here, featuring more than 70 shows.

This year, Perth Comedy Festival sees an exceptional international line-up, with comedians visiting from Canada, France, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

Former doctor turned BAFTA-winning comedian, and author of the bestselling non-fiction book of the century ‘This Is Going To Hurt’, Adam Kay (UK) returns. Plus, multi award-winning comedian, podcaster and improviser Guy Montgomery (NZ) hits the stage, as does fellow kiwi Rhys Darby, and two exciting UK acts Tom Allen and Red Richardson, both making their Perth Comedy Festival debuts.

Boundary-pushing Ian Bagg (CAN) brings ‘Straya’ to. . . Straya, Sara Pascoe (UK) reflects on night wakings in ‘I Am A Strange Gloop’, and Nish Kumar (UK) presents ‘Nish, Don’t Kill My Vibe’.

Co-Creator of the cult hit podcast ‘All Killa No Filla’, Kiri Pritchard-McLean (UK) heads our way, NZ’s Melanie Bracewell gives us ‘A Little Treat’, and comedic father-daughter duo Pat and Faye Shortt take to the stage.

There is, of course, a heavy representation of homegrown talent. The star-studded line-up of beloved Aussie funny folk include the likes of Geraldine Hickey (who you may have recently seen in the African jungle as part of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’), Aunty Donna’s Broden Kelly and Michelle Brasier, national treasure Bob Downe, our favourite adopted Venezuelan Ivan Aristeguieta, popular personalities like Joel Creasey, Nazeem Hussain and Tommy Little, the satirical Sammy J, buzzword experts Wankernomics, and Zachary Ruane and Alexei Toliopoulos, dressed as Margaret and David.

The specialty nights of the fest return too – like the Perth Comedy Festival Showcase, 100% Scottish Comedy, the WA Comedy All-Stars and more. . . As well as the ever-popular Perth Comedy Festival Gala.
