Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Laughter awaits as the first acts for the star-studded 2025 Perth Comedy Festival emerge.

The 2025 event promises to be an unforgettable celebration of comedy – the first of the international cohort includes Ireland’s Pat & Faye Shortt, the UK’s Mat Ewins, India’s Varun Grover and Ashwyn Singh, South Africa’s Schalk Bezuidenhout, and New Zealanders Chris Parker, Guy Montgomery, and Melanie Bracewell.

Meanwhile, from our shores are the lies of Nazeem Hussain, Becky Lucas, Luke Heggie and Wankernomics, who will perform across the stages at Regal Theatre, Astor Theatre, Rechabite Hall, Goodwill Club and Freo Social.

Irish actor, comedian, writer and entertainer Pat Shortt is known for his role in ‘D’Unbelievables’. He joins forces with Faye Shortt, for an unforgettable comedy experience set to show off each of their talents.

Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Mat Ewins brings his hilarious multimedia extravaganza show, consisting of a quick-fire barrage of manipulated videos, bespoke computer games for the audience, and dangerous stunts.

Varun Grover will perform ‘Nothing Makes Sense’, as he weaves together personal anecdotes, satire, and reflections on the absurdities of life in modern India.

Ashwyn Singh’s Desi Translations series has racked up more than 40 million views, with his comedy earning him a spotlight at ‘Canada’s Got Talent’. He’ll play Regal Theatre.

Nazeem Hussain will present ‘You Paid For This’ at The Regal Theatre, as his trademark wit and bold humour takes centre stage.

James Schloeffel and Charles Firth’s ‘Wankernomics’ returns to the Astor Theatre, with a comedic exploration of workplace dynamics, economic absurdities, and the corporate world.

Becky Lucas will captivate audiences with her sharp wit and relatable storytelling, while Luke Heggie will bring his no-nonsense, dry humour.

Of course, the Perth Comedy Festival Showcase will make its return, as will the late-night variety show Best Of The Fest, and Perth Comedy Festival Galas.

Perth Comedy Festival 2025 is on from 21 April-18 May.
