Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The 2024 Perth Comedy Festival champions some of the finest local and national stand-up talents, alongside internationally-acclaimed comedy giants and rising stars.

There are more than 65 shows to see this year, from the historic stage of Subiaco's Regal Theatre to the art deco delight of Mount Lawley's Astor Theatre, and Northbridge's comedy hub The Rechabite.

Internationally, attendees can expect such talents as Adam Kay (UK), Chan Lok Tim (HK), Connor Burns (SCO), David O’Doherty (IRE), Ed Byrne (IRE), Fern Brady (SCO), Guy Montgomery (NZ), Helen Bauer (UK), Jason Leong (MYS), Josh Pugh (UK), Kumar (SGP), Lloyd Langford (WEL), Melanie Bracewell (NZ), NEMR (USA/LBN), Olga Koch (RUS, UK), Schalk Bezuidenhout (RSA), Stephen K Amos (UK), the guys behind The Dollop; Dave Anthony and Gareth Reynolds (US) and Vivek Mahbubani (HK).

Meanwhile, locally there's the likes of Wil Anderson, Wankernomics, Peter Helliar, Nat's What I Reckon, Nazeem Hussain, and Annabel Crabb.

Comedians will serve up (often questionable) life advice and profound existential questions, all the while telling us that 'nothing's unpossible'.

There will be a bit of a musical swing at the comedy festival this year too, thanks to Bob Downe, returning to the Regal with a show celebrating 25 years of his ARIA nominated comedy jazz album 'JAZZY'. Plus there's Carla Anita Mattiazzo, serving up a feminist comedy cabaret; veteran Irish comic David O'Doherty packing a punch with catchy tunes on his Casio keyboard; and critically-acclaimed burlesque parody show 'Swamplesque', offering a smorgasbord of performance styles, from burlesque, drag, musical theatre, and opera.

Homegrown Perth heroes include Emma Krause (Lotteree's Sue Finley, 'Australia's Got Talent' finalist) and prolific comedian Colin Ebsworth, plus Janelle Koenig and Dean Misdale as 'The Joker And The Queen'.

The fabulous Perth Comedy Festival Gala will bring together a dazzling line-up of the festival's funniest international stars, Aussie legends, and the next big things. If you're south of the river, you can enjoy the Perth Comedy Festival Showcase at Freo Social, and finally, there's the inaugural Best Of The Fest, bringing audiences a surprise line-up of the biggest local and international stars at a bargain price.

Perth Comedy Festival is on from 22 April-19 May.
