Perth is proud to announce a bunch of comedians heading to the fine city to deliver lots of LOLs for the 2022 Perth Comedy Festival.
What do an Irishman, a South African, some Americans, a friend from across the ditch and some home-grown talent all have in common? They’ll all be playing as part of this year’s festivities!
Thanks to recently opened borders, Ireland’s David O’Doherty will be welcomed with open arms. Fans can expect lots of talking, apologising, and songs played on a glued together plastic keyboard from 1986 in ‘Whoa Is Me’.
Meanwhile, Alfred Adriaan presents ‘Another South African’, a highly relatable, nostalgic show chronicling his time spent during lockdown. Alfie Brown (UK) presents ‘Sensitive Man’, a brand-new show which asks ‘does emotion help us make moral judgements?’
Dave Anthony and Gareth Reynolds (USA) bring their American history podcast ‘The Dollop’ back to Australia following multiple sell-out tours in the US, Canada and Europe.
NZ comedian, actress and scriptwriter Melanie Bracewell delivers ‘Ooh La La’. At just 26, Melanie’s wit and one-liners have made her a media star in her homeland, and a rising star on the international comedy circuit!
Queens of comedy for women’s rights, ‘Frocking Hilarious’ will perform for the first time in Perth. Dazzling, fierce and fabulous, ‘Frocking Hilarious’ has been a huge success at recent east coast comedy festivals. . . Plus, all proceeds from ticket sales will support Action Aid’s work to empower women on the frontlines of injustice, to work together and transform their communities.
Aussie cooking iso-comedian, mental health advocate and author Nat’s What I Reckon delivers ‘Uncooked’ – an epic, live multimedia piss-taking extravaganza, wrapped in positivity, kindness and inclusivity.
Australian drag queen Karen From Finance will present her debut one-woman show ‘Out Of Office’, featuring high camp, hilarious mash-ups, and all the tomfoolery you can poke a presentation pointer at. Say goodbye to the 80-hour work week in favour of this one-woman journey of self-discovery and self-annihilation.
Also among the Aussie crowd will be Aaron Chen, Christian Hull, Lawrence Mooney, Luke Heggie, (adopted Aussie) Ivan Aristeguieta, Nazeem Hussain, Nick Cody and local ladies Becky Lucas, Kirsty Webeck, Michelle Brasier and Chris Ryan.
The full festival line-up sees more than 50 shows taking place on the stages of the Regal Theatre, Astor Theatre, The Rechabite, and Freo Social.
Check out the website for the programme and tickets.
Perth Comedy Festival runs from 29 April-15 May.
