Immature Amateurs Matt 'Banana Man' Eberhart, Rich Jay, Jai-Lee Martin, Barbarella, Rob Butvila and Eric Tinker are warming up their instruments to deliver a stellar show.
For three nights only, these performers will improvise, entertain, and take cues from the audience, making songs up on the spot and seeing where it takes them.
Immature Amateurs Founder Matt 'Banana Man' Eberhart was born in Germany and raised in Japan, and he has toured to more than 15 countries.
“If you're looking for a musical improv comedy spectacular, then we have the show for you! The cast has been plucked fresh from the international performers' circuit,” Matt says. “There will be three 20 minute 'scenes' in the show, each one inspired by suggestions from the audience. We will deliver a show that has never been seen before and will never be seen again!”
Eric Tinker is a strummer and singer of comedy songs, and a veteran to the Brisbane improv scene. It's pretty clear to see what he's looking forward to about this show: “The challenge! We don't know what we'll be doing until the start of each scene,” he explains. “And it's so much fun coming up with songs as our one-man band Jai plays keyboards, accordion, guitar, flute, trumpet and trombone. Jai tunefully steers us through the wacky labyrinth of whatever tale we come up with.”
“The punters' suggestions will create three different short stories enacted on the spot. Want a pirate adventure? A spaghetti western? Romantic drama? You choose the title and the subject and we will perform your show to live music! Are we immature? Possibly. Amateur? You decide!”
Matt says the gang are keen to explore everything the Fringe has to offer, and likens the wide array of genres and experiences on offer at the festival to the motley crew of performers in their show.
“The Immature Amateurs are actually a microcosm of the Fringe, we feature many diverse talents,” Matt describes. “Our troupe include a multi-instrumentalist, a cabaret singer, a stand-up, a wedding singer, a street performer and a witty songster."
