A stellar line-up of some of Australia's best stand-up comedians will come together to share stories from around the world in the 'Multicultural Comedy Gala’.
Join Ivan Aristeguieta, Georgie Carroll, Dilruk Jayasinha, Andy Saunders, Joe White, and Ting Lim as they touch on cultural identity in comedy poking fun at what makes us all different, but so much the same.
Australia's inclusive heritage will be on full display in nights of side-splitting comedy – it's a celebration of diversity, and the multicultural identity of the country we live in.
Here, award-winning comedian Joe White – who took home Best Comedy at Perth's Fringe World three years in a row and has played to audiences here and abroad – lists five global comedians to keep your eyes on. . . Before he hits the road for 'Multicultural Comedy Gala'.
One
Chris Rock. American superstar Chris Rock is currently touring and his show is a must-see, especially since the Oscars incident. Overall Chris has always been in my top five comedians to watch because his observational comedy is that of world class. There are not many comedians who can do what he can in today's climate. Two
Trevor Noah. South African comedian Trevor Noah is easily the best comedian to come out of Africa, his shows always deliver. There is a reason why Trevor has achieved the level of success he has in the entertainment industry. The way he does the many accents in his act is unmatched, I watch Trevor just to hear him do the accents.Three
Jo Koy. Filipino American comedian Jo Koy never misses, every time I watch him I am left with tears running down my face from laughing so much. The way he tells stories about his family and the punchlines that follow are that of a comedic genius. There is a reason why he sells out arenas when he tours internationally.Four
Thenjiwe. South African comedian operating out of London with over a million online followers, her deadpan delivery will leave you spitting your drink out from laughing so hard. I enjoy watching Thenjiwe because she can take the mundane experiences and make them very funny, there is a reason why she is viewed by millions online!Five
Dr Jason Leong. A class act and never scared to speak his mind, Dr Jason Leong is a Malaysian-Chinese comedian based in Malaysia and tours Australia regularly. His ability to address serious political issues from a comedic angle is one of the best in the world.“All the acts from this year's 'Multicultural Comedy Gala' remind me of my top five comedians, the comedic observations, the storytelling, the one-liners and the quick wit you will witness at the 'Multicultural Comedy Gala' is something you do not want to miss!”
