The 2024 Melbourne International Comedy Festival will once again take over the streets, venues and bars of Melbourne through March and April of 2024.
The 2023 festival celebrated its highest ticket sales ever, and a record-breaking box office, with the 2024 event already set to be bigger and better. Flying in from overseas is Atsuko Okatsuka (Variety’s Top 10 Comics To Watch), Carly Donnelly (UK) straight from supporting Kevin Bridges, David O’Doherty (IRE) with his musical interludes and dry wit, Scotland comedy queen Fern Brady, award-winning comedian, writer and actor Larry Dean (SCO), and stars on the rise like Chloe Petts, Rob Auton and Julia Masli.
Joining them is Mexican-American-Venezuelan Lara Ricote, as well as much-loved 2023 hit Comedy Zone Asia with a fresh cast, Canada’s John Hastings, Takashi Wakasugi (JPN), a fresh line-up in Best Of The Edinburgh Fest, Hong Kong’s Vivek Mahbubani, Malaysian comedian Dr Jason Leong, and Australian faves/adopted locals Arj Barker, Lloyd Langford, and Ivan Aristeguieta.
Not to mention a New Zealand invasion from the likes of Chris Parker, Guy Montgomery, Guy Williams, Melanie Bracewell, Ray O’Leary and Urzila Carlson.
Locally there’s also Aaron Chen, Aboriginal Comedy Allstars, Anne Edmonds, Akmal, Bron Lewis, Bronwyn Kuss, Cameron James, Celia Pacquola, Claire Hooper, Damien Power, Dane Simpson, Daniel Connell, Dave Thornton, Dave Hughes, Emma Holland, Jenny Tian, Jimeoin, Joel Creasey, Josh Thomas, Kirsty Webeck, Lizzy Hoo, Luke Heggie, Mel Buttle, Nath Valvo, Nazeem Hussain, Nina Oyama, Rhys Nicholson, Tom Ballard, Tom Gleeson, Tommy Little, Wil Anderson, Zoë Coombs Marr – and that’s just the beginning.
A bunch of special events will be returning in 2024 too. There’s The Gala, The Opening Night Comedy Allstars Supershow, The 34th Annual Great Debate, and Upfront.
Elsewhere to pop on the comedy calendar are Festival Club, Comedy Club For Kids, RAW Comedy, Deadly Funny, and Class Clowns.
Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2024 is on from 27 March-21 April.
