Mary Tobin Presents once more prove themselves the concierges of comedy with what they have to offer at Adelaide Fringe 2023.
For more than 30 years, Mary Tobin Presents has brought the finest and funniest comedians from around the world to Australian stages.
Adelaide Fringe audiences will have no shortage of the festival’s best comedians when Mary Tobin Presents. . .
'Best Of The Edinburgh Fest’
From the heartland of Fringe Festivals comes the cream of the crop to give Australian audiences a taste of the world’s largest arts festival.
This year’s roster features Markus Birdman (UK), Mark Simmons (UK), Gary McCallister (SCOT), Luke Benson (UK) and John Hastings (CAN), with three hilarious acts performing at each show.
One of Adelaide Fringe’s most iconic shows, 'Best Of The Edinburgh Fest' returns bigger and better than ever in 2023 to showcase some of the finest international talent.
Markus Birdman: 'The Bearable Heaviness of Nearly Not Being’
An honest, heartfelt and hilarious show about Markus’ experiences suffering a stroke.
“I found myself in hospital, mid-lockdown, with no visitors allowed. I've permanently lost half my eyesight,” Markus says.
“One night I went to the toilet and sat down on another naked blind man, already there. I was too blind to see him. He was too blind to stop me. So, it's not all doom.
“But now I have had a unique experience about a topic, often sniggered about, but regarding which very little is really understood. And trust me, it affects a lot of people, young and old. It’s the second biggest killer in UK. I'm keen to make you laugh, but also to raise a little awareness.”
The Best Of Arj Barker: 'Power Hour’
Australia’s favourite American comedian Arj Barker has taken his best jokes from the past 30 years and condensed them into a single hour of remastered comedy, sprinkling in some new gems and improv for good measure.
Recently, Arj has spent more time in our country than his own and has come to understand our culture perhaps better than we understand it ourselves.
Relive some of Arj’s best bits and belly laughs in a single hour that proves why he’s one of Australia’s favourite comedians.
John Hastings: 'Do You Have Any Ointment My John Hastings’
Canada’s John Hastings is back in Adelaide with a big smelly comedy show about sadness, bathroom stuff, confrontation, divorce and death.
The youngest comedian to appear at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, John also received a standing ovation from an empty audience on 'America’s Got Talent' and has even confronted a drunken Dennis Rodman while on stage at Los Angeles Comedy Store.
Hailed by critics as a charismatic storyteller and skilled improviser, John Hastings was also named one of the best reviewed shows of the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Stephen K Amos: 'Before And Laughter’
Due to overwhelming demand, Fringe Festival favourite and one of Australia’s most-loved international comedians Stephen K Amos returns to Adelaide with a show that brings his trademark wit and charm to the recent troubles of the world.
Fresh from treading the boards in London’s West End at the glorious Coliseum Theatre playing the iconic role of Alfred P. Doolittle in the smash hit musical ‘My Fair Lady’, join Stephen as he muses about the extraordinary events the world has faced over the last couple of years.
