Joel Creasey Looks Back On A Great Year

Joel Creasey fiddles with your funnybone in his new show 'Drink. Slay. Repeat.'
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

He hosted Eurovision and Mardi Gras, had a stand-up special on Netflix, bought a house, continued dating a supermodel... Joel Creasey seems like he's got it together.

His show 'Drink. Slay. Repeat.' will inform you of another reality: Joel screws up on a daily basis. But don't we all?

Here, the comedian reflects on a brilliant year (overall) and gives us the goss on the new show.

You’ve had a pretty great year or so. What kind of stories do you have to tell us in ‘Drink. Slay. Repeat.’?
All the sassy, dishy, behind-the-scenes stories from my last year hustling myself all over the world telling jokes.

What is the best thing that has happened to you in the last year?
I was awarded an 'Order of Merlin' by JK Rowling herself.

How about… The worst?
My boyfriend had a twisted testicle and almost lost it. It was very stressful but makes GREAT stand up material.

And what is one very important lesson you’ve learned?
Don't wear tight underwear and do F45... that's how you twist said testicle.

You’re kind of focusing on the whole ‘looks great on the outside, isn’t so together on the inside’ thing that lots of people have going on. Why do you think lots of people can relate to this?
Because we ALL do it. No matter how hard we try not to we ALL try and portray ourselves in a more favourable light. I'm doing it right now with my answers to these questions!

What is one thing you’d like to achieve in 2019?
World domination. I've got 11 months left so I'm feeling pretty good about it.

If you had to give your show another name, what would it be?
'A Lot of Stories About Drinking Too Much But I've Gotten Material Out of It So I Technically Don't Have a Drinking Problem'.
