Icon, national treasure, activist, and comedy actress Joanna Lumley is embarking on her first ever live tour of Australia in October of this year.
The five-city tour begins at Queensland Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane, before heading to Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, and Sydney. Joanna will be recounting hilarious and interesting adventures from her incredible four-decade career.
Joanna first burst on to our screen as Purdey in ‘New Avengers’ in 1976. At her show, she’ll share stories from there, to ‘Coronation Street’, and as Patsy Stone on ‘Absolutely Fabulous’. As Patsy, Joanna became a degenerate role model for a generation. She won two BAFTAs, and emerged as one of the best comedy actresses of her generation.
“The thought of this tour in October, travelling across Australia, has completely taken over my waking hours. It’s utterly thrilling to start planning the stories I can tell, and the rapture (and gratitude, to be fair) with which I shall greet the audiences,” Joanna says.
“Nothing like this has come my way before, and I may have to be dragged off with a hook at the end of each show. Oh people! This is especially for you from me, with masses of love. I think it will be fabulous.”
Later in the show, Joanna will be joined by friend and producer Clive Tulloh, who will ask her questions submitted by the audience!
Tickets are on sale 9 May at 11am local.
