Award-winning comedian, actor, and writer Jack Whitehall is set to bring his unique brand of humour to Australian audiences in January and February 2025.
Alongside his father, Michael, Jack will be stopping off from their travels to share an extra chapter of their adventures, as seen in their smash-hit Netflix series, 'Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father'. The tour will visit Canberra, Sydney, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Perth, and more – promising a night of laughter and unforgettable stories.
Jack and Michael have been exploring the world for years, surviving everything from naked yoga to Chernobyl’s toilet facilities.
Their latest escapades include struggles with fatherhood as they welcome a new Whitehall into the world. The tour promises tall tales, family secrets, and rare, revealing photographs from the family album. With Hilary (mum) on hand to referee when things get too heated, audiences can expect a night of hilarity and heartwarming moments.
Jack has some fond memories of season four of his Netflix series, where he came down under.
"We went to an emu farm in Ipswich which was definitely very memorable. I don’t know whether we’ll be heading back there to visit old friends and visit the emu that terrorised me, maybe invite it to our show," Jack jokes. The thought of an emu making a guest appearance on stage is enough to bring a smile to anyone's face.
Jack also expresses his excitement about returning to Australia. "We had a great time in Uluru and traveling all over the country and spent a lot of time in Sydney that we loved. Looking forward to coming back and going on tour," he says.
The dynamic between Jack and his father is a big part of the show's appeal.
"I’ll come and do a bit of stand-up in the beginning, then my dad will come along and we’ll turn it into a bit of a roast and my mum will be tagging along to referee proceedings," Jack explains. The show often descends into what Jack describes as "couples therapy" with his own parents, complete with surprise memories and photos from his mum’s back catalogue.
Jack will be in Australia at the same time as his friend Tony Khan’s wrestling company, AEW, which had Jack in during a UK Pay-Per-View, where he introduced legend Bret 'the Hitman' Hart. You might catch him at Brisbane Entertainment Centre during AEW Grand Slam, but Jack's love for professional wrestling has also made its way into his shows.
"I’d love to integrate a bit of AEW (professional wrestling) into our show; maybe give my dad a chair shot at the end of the evening," Jack quips. He recalled a previous wrestling-based joke where his dad came out of a coffin like The Undertaker, much to the delight of wrestling fans in the audience.
The tour is not just about comedy; it's about connecting with the audience. "I get a lot of people come to the show and who I talk to, who have watched the show with their parents or who even have been inspired to go off and travel with one of their parents which is always really nice," Jack shares. The Whitehall dynamic, as weird as it is, is relatable to many families, making the show a hit with audiences of all ages.
Jack Whitehall's upcoming tour promises to be a night of laughter, family fun, and unexpected surprises. Who knows, it could end with a steel cage match between Jack and a vengeful emu.
