Hannah Hart, Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart With #NoFilter

National Arts and Comedy Editor. Based in Melbourne.
Pop culture, pop music and gaming are three of Jesse’s biggest passions. Lady Gaga, Real Housewives and The Sims can almost sum him up – but he also adores a night at the cinema or a trip to the theatre.

The internet is about to cross over into the real world, as Hannah Hart, Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart get ready to pack their bags and head over to Australia for their joint #NoFilterShow.

The three pop culture queens and comedians are slaying the YouTube game, with an accumulated following of almost six and a half million subscribers. All three girls are New York Times bestsellers having all written books that were swallowed up by their adoring fans, and now they’re ready to meet the ones on this side of the world.

Among the success from her YouTube stardom Grace has also starred in the film ‘Camp Takota’, and has just wrapped the first season of her late night hit ‘The Grace Helbig Show’ on the E! Network. She's also been named one of Forbes' 30 Under 30, among other success lists.

Mamrie’s achievements include the release of her book ‘You Deserve A Drink’ – a title with the same essence as much of her YouTube channel, where you can see her making “original cocktails and a fool of myself.” She also co-wrote and starred in 'Camp Takota', alongside Grace and Hannah.

Hannah Hart, star of 'My Drunk Kitchen', was named one of Forbes' 30 Under 30 in January this year, and starred alongside Grace in a reboot of Sid and Marty Kroft’s ‘Electra Woman & Dyna Girl’.

Removing the filter from online, the girls will tour Australia au natural.

What brings you guys to Australia?
Hannah: The wonderful people of course! Also we've never done the #NoFilterShow in Australia so it seemed like it was about damn time.
Grace: Hannah Hart, Mamrie Hart and myself are bringing our #NoFilterShow to Australia!

All three of you are New York Times Bestsellers... How did it feel to make that list?!
Hannah: I am so proud of my first book, 'My Drunk Kitchen: A Guide to Eating, Drinking, and Going with Your Gut'. As an avid reader, I'm often intimidated by writing, but it's good to pursue the dreams that scare you... it means you really care!
Grace: It was very surreal. And I didn't expect to feel as proud of myself as I did when I found out. It gave me a moment of pause to reflect on the hard work and pat myself on the back. To be fair, I don't know exactly how the list works, but I do know that it gave my parents something they can tell their friends about that they understand more than the rest of what I do.

How will you be bringing elements of your YouTube stardom to the live stage?
Hannah: Well, there will definitely be puns. That's the only spoiler I'm willing to give. You'll just have to come and see!
Grace: I've been doing live comedy way before Youtube became my primary focus and it's always such a wonderful rush. Mamrie and I actually met back in 2008 on our first sketch comedy team in NYC. And ever since we started doing these #NoFilterShows a couple years ago we've strived to make each show we do to feel different, dumb and fun. We try to balance scripted material with plenty of improvised moments to make sure the audience gets a uniquely authentic experience.

What are you excited to do and see in Australia?
Hannah: I went to Australia in fall of 2013 and it was AWESOME.
Grace: I'm excited to meet the people! You guys have a reputation for being so damn nice. I love nice!

Where did all of your YouTube lives begin?
Hannah: My online life began with 'My Drunk Kitchen'. It was originally just a joke for a friend that blossomed into a whole new career! Wowza.
Grace: Hannah and Mamrie each have a different story but I started making YouTube videos as a hobby with my college roommate while doing improv and sketch comedy in NYC and auditioning for TV and film. In 2009 I got hired by a website to make an experimental series for them called 'DailyGrace' and after a few years of growth I broke off onto my own channel.

What makes YouTube such a great platform for communication?
Hannah: I think what makes YouTube such a great platform is that it allows for all types of people and all types of expression. It also loves for all types of feedback and response... for better or for worse!
Grace: It's an amazing space to share ideas and voices. I use to hustle my butt off in NYC to try and get 10 people to sit in a comedy theatre and watch me and my improv team perform. But through YouTube I've gained the opportunity to reach 100,000+ people with my comedy. It's incredible. At the same time, I can discover other personalities I relate to and learn how to open a bottle of wine with a shoe! Thanks YouTube!

Where did the idea to tour come from?
Hannah: Grace and Mamrie come from a background of live performance and we all just love making each other laugh in real time. The idea to create a show together just seemed like a fun way to spend some time exercising a different creative muscle!
Grace: Hannah, Mamrie and I love working together and Mamrie and I had missed the feeling of performing live so it seemed like a perfect solution.

Which one of you guys is the most confident on stage?
Hannah: Mamrie. Hands down.
Grace: Definitely Mamrie. She has such a presence! She's good cop and bad cop all at the same time. She'll compliment an audience member on a homemade #NoFilterShow t-shirt and call them out on talking during her bit all in the same breath! It's my favourite thing to watch.

Have you all had experience performing to audiences in the past – not in front of a camera?
Hannah: I haven't! But Grace and Mamrie have been great friends and teachers helping guide the process.
Grace: I used to be on a house team at The Peoples Improv theatre for four years after I graduated college and did some sketch comedy shows and random bits/one-off shows here and there.

Do you have any weird pre-show rituals you do to get you warmed up?
Hannah: Shots?
Grace: There's usually a shot of Fireball and a group hug right before we go on stage.

What can audiences expect at the #NoFilterShow?
Hannah: They can expect one of us to trip over something at some point. Probably.
Grace: Expect dumb fun. Lots of it.
