Your new show defines ‘happiness’ as the bedside table... explain yourself?
I have a bedside table for the first time in my adult life and I can’t stop marvelling how wonderful it is. My glasses are finally safe overnight. This got me thinking how far I have come since the lowest point of my life way back in 2005.
What first drew you into the world of bedroom paraphernalia? It sounds so.... seductive?
I’ve had a bed for years. I’m just a more cashed up bogan these days, so I got trimmings.
How important is it to have an organised, well lit bedside table?
I don’t rate organisation. And it shouldn’t be well lit. It’s sleepy time.
Secrets shared with bedside tables... what kind of stories could they tell?
I am not suave.
The show contains 'imagined nudity'... how risque will it get, Hannah?
It’s all in your head, so it’s entirely up to you.
You’re performing the show as part of the Brisbane Comedy Festival; do you find us banana-benders an easy bunch to converse with?
Yes, I do. I speak slowly and you appreciate that.
Television: how much do you enjoy the genre, compared to stand-up?
It’s interesting, but not as exciting as live stand-up. It looks more exciting, but there is a lot of time standing around waiting for infinitely more talented people to make decisions that will ultimately make you seem more exciting. And I also have to get my make-up done. I don’t like that.
According to your bio, you’re currently working on your first book, based on your mildly alarming medical history. Not to probe at all... how alarming?
I’ve been in five ambulances but only once with a siren. So not too alarming, I guess.
