Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont-Spelling Bee Live For One Night Only In Melbourne

'Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont-Spelling Bee'
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Now a smash TV show on ABC, ‘Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont-Spelling Bee’ is hitting the stage in Melbourne for one night only.

Award-winning Kiwi comedian, podcaster and improviser Guy Montgomery will bring the show back to its roots, as part of Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and after three consecutive years of sell-out shows, Guy will be joined by some of the biggest names of the festival in 2025. They’ll be put through their spelling paces with a variety of both straightforward and frustratingly complex rounds.

It’s infuriating to take part in. . . But totally entertaining to watch.

This one-off show is part of Guy Montgomery’s ‘I’ve Noticed So Many Things, It'd Be Unfair To Keep Them To Myself’ tour, which includes dates at Adelaide Fringe Festival, the Canberra Comedy Festival, the iconic Atheneum Theatre in Melbourne, the Perth Comedy Festival, and the Sydney Comedy Festival, before shows in Brisbane, Newcastle, Wollongong, the Gold Coast and Geelong.

“There is only going to be one live spelling bee at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival next year but the crazy thing about that is, it’s gonna be at the Palais,” Guy says on his socials. “Haven’t really figured out the details yet but we’ve booked the venue so it’s definitely happening.”

Tickets are on sale 29 November.

‘Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont-Spelling Bee’ is on at Palais Theatre (Melbourne) 7 April, 2025.
