Double Denim Adventure Show Review @ Brisbane Comedy Festival 2020

Double Denim
Gabbi has watched Brisbane's comedy, film and arts scene thrive since joining scenestr in 2015. Catch her at the Powerhouse with a G&T in hand any day of the week.

Following their winning of the Director's Choice Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Double Denim is back with a show that’s “hopefully not a flop” after their successful first instalment.

You may recognise Michelle Brasier from Shaun Micallef’s ‘Mad As Hell’, but she’s back with her awkward as hell partner Laura Frew to bring part two of the Double Denim journey - the 'Adventure Show'. It’s your worst contiki nightmare come true, as we all board the FriendShip with Michelle and Laura at the starboard, specific members of the audience allocated jobs for the trip, and just not enough life jackets and boats for everyone on board. But it worked for the Titanic, right?

Part safari party, part murder mystery, entirely interactive, and completely nonsensical, Double Denim is the most ridiculous stand-up show that you never thought you needed. Featuring familiar faces (ie. a healthy amount of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson), old friends (the crabs are back. . .), and brand-new characters, venture through a deserted island in a 'Lord Of The Flies' meets 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' scenario with no map and no shame.

The show has plenty of twist and turns, and just a whole lot of fun with quick costume changes and highly effective light and sound engineering (sound effects are on point), it’s a very cool party. Two girls, one fabric, Double Denim is a must-see.
