Wow. Brisbane comedian Damien Power will support Tenacious D on the Australian leg of their upcoming tour.
He'll replace Barry Morgan, who unfortunately had to drop out. Morgan's management shared this message:
"Due to unforeseen circumstances Barry Morgan has had to cancel his appearance at the Tenacious D Australian May tour. Naturally, Barry is heartbroken that he can’t meet a few of his favourite celebrities and thanks Mr Jack Black and Mr Kyle Gass for the invitation to be involved in their show.
"Mr. Barry Morgan looks forward to donning his safari suit and making his way from the Sunnyside Mall in Adelaide in his Toyota Crown Royal Saloon to organ lovers around Australia, later in the year."
Power's acerbic wit and undeniable energy should make an excellent addition to The D's tour. It'll be interesting to see how the stand-up comic will go down with an audience expecting musical comedy, but funny is funny, right?
And Damien Power is funny. He reached the finals in last year's national RAW Comedy competition, was nominated for Best Comedy at last year's Sydney Fringe Festival and sold out shows at this year's Melbourne International Comedy Festival (not to mention his success on his home turf at the Brisbane Comedy Festival).
