Amir Blumenfeld, Jake Hurwitz and Streeter Seidell

Amir Blumenfeld, Jake Hurwitz and Streeter Seidell, three rising stars from the world of comedy, will be live in Australia for the very first time.

Jake and Amir are the writers/ actors/ editors behind the Webby award-winning internet series, 'Jake And Amir', which has been humouring more than 500,000 viewers each week for eight years. The web series follows the writers' odd-couple-style friendship, and has been named as one of PC Mag’s top 15 best web-only shows.

Streeter Seidell also teams up with Amir for the College Humor’s ‘Prank War’ shorts, which has since led to a full series on MTV called ‘Pranked’. The three of them are some of the most recognisable faces of College Humor, and are finally bringing their live shows to Australia. “We've been to London a couple years in a row, and we noticed we had a lot of fans in Australia,” Amir explains, “so we asked our booking agent if we could do a tour there instead of England this year, and he was all for it.

“I guess he'd sent comedians to Australia before and you guys have a good comedian following, so when comedians come out from America, you guys come and support them.”

Jake and Amir’s skits are a hilarious mix of witticism, improv and ridiculousness, mostly as a result of their wide range of comedic influences. “In terms of stand-up, there's a bunch of funny guys out there like Pete Holmes and Louis C.K. Then on TV, we grew up watch 'The Simpsons', 'Seinfeld' and 'Saturday Night Live', so we're inspired by them. Then we have a bunch of funny friends who do improv around LA like Ben Shwartz and Thomas Middleditch, so we like those guys too.”

After touring London and the UK multiple times, the shows have sold out to audiences as big as 900. However, the Australian tour will be the first Down Under experience for Jake and Amir, and they have already sold out shows. “We thought that people might know about us in Australia, but the fact that we've sold out shows in Melbourne and other cities is mindblowing, I had no idea. But I'm looking forward to it all.

“Melbourne and Sydney should fun because everyone always tells me they're cool, but then we're also going to Adelaide and Brisbane and Perth, so a bunch of cities that we wouldn't necessarily go to on vacation, but we're happy to get a chance to visit on this tour.”

Their time in Australia will be jam-packed with shows and sightseeing. “The plan is Streeter will do stand-up and Jake and I will be doing a live version of our podcast, so it'll be like a variety night. We're hopefully going to have a great time and meet everyone who sticks around afterword, so it'll be a great night in every city! We want to explore the city as locals would. We want to see everything there is to see in the short amount of time that we're there.

“We're very excited to finally get over there and meet everybody. We’ll have a great time in all five cities; it'll be a very exciting half work half vacation. It'll be like a party, who doesn't like parties?!”
