Once again, the crew from Chimp Cop are back, the sketch comedy group that any seasoned comedy festival punter should always have on their must-see list.
A lot of things are different in the world in 2022, and for the crew from Chimp Cop, that means a show without a chimp, or a cop, but fortunately 'Imposter Syndrome' delivers all the brilliance that fans have come to know and love from this ridiculous group, and so much more – and this time, as well it should be, it’s bloody well in space!
The best part about heading to a Chimp Cop show is knowing that no matter your particular personal flavour of comedy, there will always be a joke for you among the hour of absolute insanity that is set to unfold. Puns, physical gags, niche pop culture references and some deliciously crude humour are on offer for the crowd this year – and every audience member eats it all up with pure delight. This very silly little comedy play is the perfect antidote for anyone suffering from a bit of exhaustion after seeing yet another 'show with a message' – there is certainly no profound take home here, and that’s just perfect, thank you very much!
Timothy Clark, as always, delivers a standout performance, bringing the most ridiculous sleazeball character to life, with a certain fun charm. Similarly, Adam Knox has some of the show's best dialogue when he makes the big reveal about his character’s true intentions for the team’s space mission – a monologue that almost brought about tears of laughter. Rounding out this excellent crew, Rosie Frances and Ben Vernel are both solid anchors, helping to guide the journey through time and space while also providing great comedic value.
Chimp Cop provide so much fun – for both themselves, it seems, as well as the grateful audience. 'Imposter Syndrome' is yet another awesome, stupid, and goofy show. With additional shows added for the final weekend of comedy festival, it’s clear that this is the kind of show the people want – be sure to grab a ticket for this absolute comedy festival gem.
