Brisbane Comedy Festival 2020 Line-Up

L-R, Top-Bottom: Fiona O'Loughlin, Dave Hughes, Stephen K Amos, Cal Wilson

More venues, more international stars, more local talent, more laughs. Brisbane Comedy Festival returns.

It's year 11 for the Brisbane Comedy Festival, featuring a bumper line-up of 85 acts playing in 14 performance spaces across 5 venues in February and March.

Brisbane Powerhouse will play the role of comedy central, hosting performances and gigs across its iconic New Farm space. Brisbane City Hall and Newstead Brewing Co will again be throwing their doors open to entertainers and comedy lovers.

Joining the fold for the first time are two Fortitude Valley venues: The Tivoli and Fortitude Music Hall.

The month-long fun and frivolity begins with the Opening Gala, hosted by a soon-to-be-revealed artist who will attempt to corral the chaos of a group of comedians.

The festival will of course shine a spotlight on top Queensland talent including Mel Buttle, Steph Tisdell, Becky Lucas and Matt Okine, local collectives Act/React, Brisburned, and Politics In The Pub. . . As well as Agro with Jamie Dunn.

National heavyweights Dave Hughes, Peter Helliar, Fiona O'Loughlin, Nazeem Hussain and Frank Woodley will be along for the ride, as will international acts such as Stephen K Amos, Jonathan Pie, and Jimeoin.

Queerstories and Livewired return in 2020 as well.

“It’s been 11 years since Brisbane Comedy Festival first brought the laughs and it’s fantastic to see so many new acts making their debut in 2020 alongside stalwarts who have a long history with the city, including Dave Hughes, who performed in the inaugural Brisbane Comedy Festival in 2009,” Brisbane Powerhouse Artistic Director Kris Stewart says.
