Ray Badran is one of four comedians featured in this year's Breakout Comedy tour. Becky Lucas, another comedian on the tour and former Brisbane resident, is eager for her hometown to embrace Ray so she asked him some hard hitting truths to expose the man behind the laughs.
It's been said that you have over 400 jokes. Is that true?
Yes, but they are all just a variation of one old joke I got from a Christmas cracker in 2004.
What is the funniest thing that has ever happened backstage?
That time that Dave did that thing and we all laughed. Or that time when Susie said that stuff and we were all like 'say whaaaaaaattt'. And she was all like 'say whhaaaattttt'. And then we were like, 'oh ok'.

Is your curly hair natural? Or do you get it permed for festival season?
As they say; curls get the world. Or maybe it was, curls get the pearls…Wait! I actually think it was, hurls get the burls. Wait, wait, wait, I've got it! Burls get the whirls.
Do you ever think about quitting stand up comedy and focussing on heavy drinking?
I gave the heavy drinking a good hot go for the last 10 years almost. I am so close to going pro. The coach says a couple more DUI's and domestic violence charges, and I'm going to the big league!

You've pulled some good pranks on stage and off, but seriously, who is the man behind the pranks?
A sad man who spends most of his time, lying on the couch, eating, and watching reruns of 'The Simpsons'.
If you had to pick your favourite mid-20s brunette, female comedian, who would it be, and why?
