Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and some beyond.

Award-winning Darwin comic Amy Hetherington will hit the road in early 2025 once again, with her new show ‘Proud As Punch’.

It’s a whopping 50-show tour, in 30 different towns across Western Australia, South Australia and Victoria; including her return to Perth Fringe, Adelaide Fringe and The Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Amy’s charisma, delivery and cheeky observational comedy has made her a crowd favourite in recent years. Her comedy draws from her life as a new mum, balancing parenting and stand-up comedy, and her experiences living in the Northern Territory.

She’s won the Fringe World Best Comedy Award (2023), the Adelaide Fringe Weekly Award (2019,2022,2024) and has been a finalist at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival RAW competition in 2020.

‘Proud As Punch’ will see Amy reflecting on parenting, road trips, the weirdness of the Territory and what not to do when trying to practise ‘gentle parenting’.

“‘Proud As Punch’ is about the things we’re proud of and proving people wrong. It looks at all the new challenges I’m facing as the mother of a three-year-old, grappling with the pressures of ‘gentle parenting’ and Instagram,” Amy says.

“It’s filled with bizarre things that have happened in the Northern Territory – which seems to get weirder as the place gets hotter. And I share some of the most embarrassing things that have happened to me in the past year. . . Always a fun overshare.”

Amy completed a 22-date tour in early 2023. . . And has only upped the ante on her touring.

“Nothing pretty about this sort of touring - eating a lot of dimsims and service station snacks, bring our own PA and lighting and setting up in pubs, breweries and venues throughout WA/SA,” Amy says. “Throwing ourselves into communities and working with locals to make a good night of it for the people in regional Aus.”

Tickets are on sale now.
