Award-winning Darwin comic Amy Hetherington is hitting the road to tour across WA and SA from January to March of next year.
Amy’s charisma and optimistic sense of humour have won her acclaim across the country, as well as a loyal following nationwide. Part of Amy’s appeal is her relentless pursuit to make a crowd smile – she knows how to read a room, and she leaves it all on stage.
This summer, she’s gearing up to do it all over again.
It’s the ‘Big Summer Comedy Tour’, and Amy will be bringing a new set of material to venues throughout Western Australia and South Australia. Amy says audiences can expect new stories, and a fun vibe.
“This show is a culmination of several shows I’ve written about being a parent. It’s about the chaos of juggling life as a mum and finding your identity in that madness,” she says. “It’s also about the chaos of doing all of this in a place like Darwin, and the silly things that happen in hot, tropical places filled with crazy people.”
“There’s stories about growing up in a regional town, oversharing about trying to feel sexy after having a baby and a whole heap of jokes about silly things I’ve done. I’m a big believer in sharing the dumb things I do because it helps other people feel a bit more normal about their own mistakes. . . Lucky I’m an idiot so I’m never short of material.
“Overall these shows are a good time. It’s about sharing a bit of optimism and the reality of being a parent. It’s a perfect night for parents, would-be parents or never-would-I-ever parents. A solid mum's night out. Or bring the partner. . . If they're not laughing they're learning.”
Amy has enjoyed several sold-out shows in her hometown’s Darwin Festival, as well as Perth’s Fringe World, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe. She’s spent three years touring, and refining her craft.
Tickets are on sale now.
