There are two sides to every story.
And there are two sides to every Aaron Chen. At least, there are with this one. Aaron's show 'piss off (just kidding)' represents those two sides. 'piss off' being the dark and evil side, and '(just kidding)' the angelic side.Confused? Don't worry. Aaron explains more below.
How did you start out in comedy?
I did speeches in high school that were a full on crack up. Then I did a competition called Class Clowns and won it in year 11 and then I did open mics and the rest is history.
How would you describe your humour?
It’s a mirror to our personal ideologies.
What is 'piss off (just kidding)' about?
Mainly about how neo-liberal economic models and ideologies will lead to the end of humanity as we know it and if we keep on going down that path then we will all perish. And about the difference between cats and dogs.
What really is the 'dark side' of Aaron and the 'sweet side' of Aaron?
Sweet side, I am friendly. Dark side, I like to punch on.
What is the main difference between 'The Infinite Faces of Chenny Baby' and 'piss off (just kidding)'?
A lot more attitude in this new show. And a lot of internal aggression and my life is way more complex and hard. It’s so sh.t. Can u please help me? I need help.
What inspired you to start comedy?
Bruno Mars told me to.
Who are your go-to comedians for a laugh? Who would you recommend?
Dan Rath.
What was it like working on shows like 'Ronny Chieng: International Student' and 'Orange Is The New Brown'?
It was funny and cool getting to work with powerhouse ethnics. Making comedy with people who can eat coriander.
Are there any other projects for you coming up?
'Chen PM 3010', a web series about me being the Prime Minister in a distant future. And also I might make some silly videos for YouTube, who knows.
Going to a soccer match any time soon? Will we see another interview that will divide the nation?
I hope I get to do another public stunt. And I love football, I have played it since I was seven. Now piss off (just kidding).
