Razor-sharp wit. . . Deadpan humour. . . Multiple TV appearances up her sleeve. It's only Ting Lim!
Ting has impressed audiences on the ABC's 'Fisk' across a few seasons, and even gone through the blue door in the revitalised 'Thank God You're Here'. She burst on to the scene as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival's RAW Comedy competition, representing Queensland.
Since, she's toured sold-out shows across Australia.
For one week only, Ting Lim returns to Melbourne International Comedy Festival with her show 'What I Really Think'.
When it comes to what others think, their input isn't necessarily always helpful, or constructive. What follows are five such cases, as told by Ting, where people have chimed in and given her unsolicited feedback.

“Your fly was undone the entire time you were on stage.” I was wearing a pair of old, tight jeans with a zipper that slowly undoes itself. The kind of jeans you have to take a running jump into while convincing yourself they look good. When I came off stage, the host told me my fly was open, followed by someone in the crowd, and then the security guard. I had a queue. Never in my life had I received so much attention. I’m still wearing those jeans today. They work. I look good. Two
“Why are you doing an Asian accent?” Some people are convinced I’m putting on an Asian accent on stage. I know – I’ve transitioned into being Asian, adopted a Chinese name, and yet, somehow, that still hasn’t convinced anyone. I might have to wear a rice hat to really drive the message home.Three
“You shouldn’t be swearing. You’re a woman.” This happened in Perth, the city that never sleeps – because of the meth in the water – right after my first-ever comedy show. Bro, it’ll blow your mind. Women can vote now too! They have jobs, juggle motherhood and still put up with your sh.t.Four
“I have a joke for you. A Black guy…” This happened in Tamworth when I was doing a charity gig for drought relief. The same guy who told me that joke also owned the caravan park we were staying in. Talk about taking your work home.Five
“Is Singapore part of China?” Yes, Singapore is part of China, just like how Australia is part of Bali. The world has changed as we know it.Ting Lim plays QT Melbourne (Melbourne International Comedy Festival) 8-13 April.
