Pop singer, comedian and 2014 Raw Comedy Finalist Jude Perl performs her brand new show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2015 at Melbourne’s cozy and prolific home to cabaret and comedy, The Butterfly Club.
In her debut show at the Comedy Festival 'Is It Just Me?' takes the audience on a magical, sexy-awkward (hyphen intended) journey from her embarrassing childhood to present day Los Angeles as she tries to 'make it' in the 'biz'. Coming across all kinds of wackiness, including her own fun-filled anxieties and societal concerns, Perl’s undeniably catchy tunes mixed with her unique brand of humour will charm and inspire in this hilarious and revealing semi-autobiographical tale.

"Remember in school when you found that mouldy orange at the back of the art room, and you stuck a picture of Ewan McGregor’s head on it? Not in a weird way, just like, in that… you had some magazine clippings of him just, you know, in your bag, so it was like 'well, yeah let’s stick it on the orange' kind of way... I STILL HAVE THE ORANGE."
Here are five things Jude Perl wishes she could tell her 15-year-old self:
One
If you wear a beanie all summer, you will have more pimples on your forehead. Also, it’s ok to have pimples, your value as a human being does not vary depending on the state of your skin.
Two
I know you want to be unique, but Capoeira classes are not the answer for you. You should only do something because you enjoy it. Not because you want to impress people, and because the guy that teaches Capoeira is insanely sexy (a sexiness that as a 15-year-old Jew you have not been exposed to at this time in your life). You should only do Capoeira if you actually enjoy Capoeira… which you don’t… and that’s ok.{youtube}XHshU-8h6qA{/youtube}
Three
Stop watching 'Edward Scissorhands' and spend some time outdoors.
Four
Stop telling people you’re watching 'Full House' because you “just really like the story arcs and the quirky family dynamics” … everyone knows you're only watching it because of John Stamos. Don’t lie to yourself'
Five
Some people don’t like disco. It’s just a sad fact that you must learn. All you can do for those people is to feel deeply sorry for them because, whether they realise it or not, their lives will never be complete.
'Is It Just Me?' played The Butterfly Club, 7-19 April and was such a hit they're bringing it back, 13-17 May!
