One of Australia's dearly loved funny women, Tania Lacy, is back – and everything's coming up roses.
After surviving six years in Berlin, getting through menopause, and raising a teenage boy with her husband of 22 years, Tania is convinced the worst is behind her.
Tania's career sounds like a breathless jump from opportunity to opportunity – she choreographed Kylie Minogue for the 'Locomotion' video, has written for film and television plus has two novels on shelves, and she's currently studying law in Cairns.
'Everything's Coming Up Roses' covers many things, but we'll let Tania convince you – here, she lists five reasons to see the show at Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

I don’t know. Maybe you liked what I did on the telly back in the '80s. And no, you haven’t seen me on your screens in a long time because. . . Again, I don’t know. Maybe I’m too mouthy. Fortunately for me, women are quite 'in' right now, so it might not be such a big deal anymore. Two
I’ve always liked doing my own thing. I’m not really. . . Oh pardon me, I mean, I’m definitely not one of the in-crowd in the comedy world. I didn’t come up through the ranks doing stand-up or worked with a troupe at uni or anything like that. I just landed on TV one day as a 22-year-old girl, on a show where no one gave a sh.t about what I was doing. So, I just did my own thing and people liked it and called me a comedian. ‘Everything’s Coming Up Roses’ is merely a different form of doing my own thing.Three
I love making people laugh. I really do. I feel like I’m a shaman, healing people through the magic medicine that is laughter. But, you know, it goes both ways this symbiotic relationship one shares with the audience, because their laughter heals me. It’s the best mood enhancer ever.Four
I have some really nice outfits I wear on stage. I’ve never really been a ‘jeans and t-shirt’ type of girl. I don’t wear jeans because I don’t work in a coal mine. I do love to dress up. Luckily, I have a job that enables me to do so otherwise I think I’d go quite mad and end up dressed to the nines just to go to the supermarket.Five
Because you’re really going to love it. The only reason I know this is because that’s what audience members tell me after they’ve seen the show. I have to say, the love people have for this show and the way they express it to me is so beautiful and humbling and I’m sounding like a wanker, right? I don’t mean to, really I don’t, but I am honestly blown away by the stuff people say to me.Tania Lacy plays Campari House (Melbourne International Comedy Festival) 28 March-9 April.
