5 Random Things With Pauly Fenech

Pauly Fenech
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

He's a man of many talents, and the king of the politically incorrect. Now, filmmaker, actor, director, producer, writer and comedian Pauly Fenech returns to Brisbane for an exclusive two-hour comedy show.

It's a variety show in every sense, featuring games, parody songs, stand-up comedy, and never-before-seen footage – a bourbon-fuelled 'boganomical' multimedia spectacular.

Alter egos Pauly and Franky Falzoni will make appearances, talking about lockdowns, taboo subjects, and Pauly's stint on 'SAS Australia', which Pauly says introduced him to a whole new audience who might not be fully clued-in to the Pauly Fenech experience: “People probably think I’m this burnout-doing, hot tub-loving silly comedian,” Pauly says. “This is gonna be a serious exposé, no filters and nothing is off limits.”

Parts of this exclusive show will also be filmed – Pauly and his producer are keeping their eyes out for colourful Queensland characters to appear on future episodes of 'Housos' and other looming televised productions. Plus, you'll witness country music star Jade Holland like never before.

Before you get your 'bogan' on to attend Pauly's show, the multi-talented man has whipped up a list of five random things.

One

Queenslander! I’ve always enjoyed performing in Queensland, it’s a state filled with larger-than-life personalities. I’m scouting for fresh talent and new characters for my ensuing shows. All will be revealed on the night. I will be unleashing some new material and having some on-stage fun with country singer Jade Holland, among some other newbies. Queensland hecklers are among the most professional and creative in the country, I’m ready for them with double pluggers in hand!

Two

Logie. Winning a Logie Award in 2014 was surreal. The room was filled with Australian TV royalty, I was enjoying a complimentary beverage by the dozen, then I hear “the winner is 'Housos'!” I managed to get to the stage, made my speech and excitedly hurled a thong into the audience. I hit a well-known and endowed female celebrity in the chest. I hear her husband with a bad combover is still out to get me.

Three

Stunts. I most always do my own stunts, so far, no prosthetic limbs required. One of the scariest moments was while filming 'Bogan Hunters' a brown snake got loose. The handler yelled “FREEZE. SNAKE!” One of the most venomous snakes on the planet, casually strolled between my legs. My heart skipped a beat, followed by a quick visit to nearby toilet facilities. Give me a car or motorbike stunt anytime!

Four

Thonging. My favourite part of the show. There’s now a movement to add 'thonging' to the Oxford English Dictionary: 'A sandal held on the foot by a strip that fits between the first and second toes and is connected to a strap used by Pauly as a practical and formidable fashion accessory to stun bounty hunters and authorities while making a hasty escape'. 'Thonging': 'to delicately caress the cheek of a male bogan and the buttock of his female counterpart while on stage at Pauly Fenech comedy events'. Seeing is believing!

Five

Dining Out. When dining out (no matter where and with whom), I always wear a g-string as preferred undergarment.

Pauly Fenech plays Lefty's Music Hall (Brisbane) 28 January.
