5 Random Highlights With Pauly Fenech Ahead Of His Show 'Fighting Authority'

Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Logie winner and comedian Pauly Fenech (as seen recently on 'SAS Australia') is helping his audiences make up for the lost time of the last two years (thanks COVID).

'Fighting Authority' is the new show from Pauly, who lots might know from the likes of 'Fat Pizza' and 'Housos'. In this new show, the star dares to sidestep the fear of threatened border closures and lockdowns, instead doing his bit to make audiences laugh and take them on a journey through the craziness of recent times.

There'll be games, parody songs, alter egos having their say, stand-up comedy (of course), and never-before-seen footage, in this multimedia comedy spectacular. Nothing is sacred – not even Pauly's time on 7Mate's 'SAS Australia'!

Here, before he hits the stage in Queensland, Pauly lists a few random highlights.

One

Being on the recent series of 'SAS Australia'. Was it real or was it Hollywood? IT WAS REAL! There are moments not suitable for TV (and best left that way). Cameras everywhere, awkward bathroom moments, nothing is sacred. It’s interesting to watch the episodes and reactions on social media.

Two

2014 Logie award. Winning a Logie was surreal, I was chuffed just to be nominated. There I am in a room with the who’s who of Australian TV, more than enjoying a complimentary beverage by the dozen. Then I hear “the winner is 'Housos'”! Managed to get to the stage, made my speech and proceeded to hurl a thong (a real double plugger) into the audience, hitting a well-endowed celebrity in the chest, ouch, and apology accepted!

Three

Thonging! Yes, it’s really a thing and there’s a movement to add 'thonging' to the Oxford English Dictionary: “A sandal held on the foot by a strip that fits between the first and second toes and is connected to a strap used by Pauly as a practical and formidable fashion accessory to stun bounty hunters and authorities while making a hasty escape". 'Thonging': “to delicately caress the cheek of a male bogan and the buttock of his female counterpart whilst on stage at Pauly Fenech comedy events". Seeing is believing!

Four

Dining out. When dining out (no matter where and with whom), I order blue steak, with extra gluten added to the side dishes.

Five

Post-COVID shows in Queensland. I’ve always enjoyed performing in Queensland, looking forward to finally stepping off a plane again and unleashing some new material. Queensland hecklers are amongst the most interesting and creative in the country, I’m ready for them!

Pauly Fenech plays Club Burleigh 25 March and Eagle Tavern 26 March.
