5 Never Have I Evers With Shanelle Franklin & Tamara Linke

Shanelle Franklin & Tamara Linke
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

They're the presenters of the 'Motherhood: A Beautiful Nightmare' podcast and now they're taking to the stage after a sold-out Adelaide Fringe season in 2022.

An extension of their huge, six-season podcast, Shanelle Franklin and Tamara Linke share songs, segments and games as an ode to the mother who is flying by the seat of her pants.

Here, Shanelle and Tamara list five things they've never, ever done (maybe. . .) before they hit up Adelaide Fringe again!

“As mothers and parents, we often feel like we are the only ones doing a bunch of daft and embarrassing things, which we would cringe at the thought of others finding out about. What we fail to realise is, that we are more like the parent standing next to us at the shops or at school drop-off than we bravely want to admit. These are our top five things that we have never ever done. . . Okay maybe we have done some, okay all of them, but don’t tell anyone!”

One

Never have I ever committed to donating my clothes I no longer wear to charity and then driven around with them in my boot for four months? Four months! And that’s the minimum amount of time they have spent in the boot. My intentions were good though!

Two

Never have I ever done a wee in the pool, because I couldn’t be bothered getting out. It was cold, I didn’t want to drip water all over the floor and let’s face it, I am in the pool now and the chlorine will sort it out.

Three

Never have I ever had a weird sex dream about someone I know. It was weird and I will not tell another human! Imagine if it got back to him/her!

Four

Never have I ever lied about the time and shifted the kids' bedtime forward so I could have some peace. I was desperate for some peace and quiet and it seemed like a good idea to get them snug in bed at 6:30pm so I could tuck into the red wine and pasta which had my name all over it.

Five

Never have I ever tucked my kids in bed, drunk, pretending to be sober. Coming home from a night out with the girls, you arrive home and can’t help but marvel at your creations. They look so sweet and innocent while asleep! Just try and avoid stacking it on the Barbie Dreamhouse in your pursuit to kiss their little heads.

Shanelle Franklin & Tamara Linke play Nexus Arts Venue 28 February-3 March, and Bistro at The Barker Hotel 4 March (Adelaide Fringe).
