5 Favourite Things Of All Time With Comedian Andy Saunders

Andy Saunders
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Comedian Andy Saunders will take to the stage for the Sunshine Coast Comedy Festival as part of the 'Aboriginal Comedy All-Stars' line-up.

Andy's ability to use humour to break down barriers and stereotypes will be a welcome addition to the SCCF's offering of entertainment – he'll bring his trademark brand of satire and human observation to the stage alongside the talents of Sean Choolburra, Kevin Kropinyeri and Steph Tisdell.

When tasked with compiling a top five of his choosing, Andy went big. Here, he lists his five favourite things of all time ahead of Sunshine Coast Comedy Festival.

“People talk about their top favourite things in a certain category, I can relate, but I want to give you my top favourite things of all time because they relate to everything I do, and they are things I can not live without, so here goes.”

One

Family – for me family is where I feel myself and where I am always at home, because my home is my family.

Two

Surfing – surfing lets me forget everything and just be, when I surf I know my mind, body and spirit is being taken care of, I get down if I don't surf for a while, if I am on the road I will always try to find a way to surf or at least be with the ocean.

Three

Comedy – I can't do a day without a laugh, life without comedy is death. My house is always filled with music, dance and laughter because the jokes never stop, it's like a gatling gun of punchlines in there, we laugh constantly, it's weird.

Four

Travel – being a comedian means you travel a lot and just as well because I love to travel. Travelling helps me understand the importance of my own home and family, it helps me appreciate everything I have but also helps me appreciate the opportunities out there, it's a big world and there are a lot of beautiful places to visit and wonderful things to see. Now that my kids are a bit older I travel with my family a lot more, it makes experiencing new places even more memorable and enjoyable but heaps more expensive. . . Ha!

Five

Whiskey – not to sound like I love to party but I love my whiskey, I have never been a big drinker but I am a fan of a bit of whiskey when the time is right. I love to relax with a good whiskey sour or two when the time is right.

Andy Saunders plays Sunshine Coast Comedy Festival as part of 'Aboriginal Comedy All-Stars' 11 November (The Events Centre Caloundra) and 12 November (The J Noosa and Solbar).
