Award-nominated stand-up comedian Daniel Connell returns to Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney with a brand-new show.
Daniel's dry, observational and often unanticipated comedy has seen him take to stages nationwide – since starting out in 2009 at emerging comedian competition 'Green Faces', he's taken off.
The year 2020 started off well, with spots at Perth and Adelaide Fringes for his show 'Cheers Big Ears', but then of course, things quietened down – as they did for everyone – due to the global pandemic.
Luckily, 2021 wasn't all that terrible for Daniel. He played the MICF Gala for the third time, and announced/embarked on his first ever Australian tour. Now it's 2022, and Daniel's ready for more awesome things to come. Like adding to his list of the best car spots he's found.
What could be better than that? Not much. . . So here, Daniel lists five of the best car spots he's found, before he presents 'Gutless Wonder'. Time for a road trip.

It was May 2008, I was rushing to a job interview in Canberra (the nation's capital). The interview was in seven minutes and I had to find a park, get dressed (I was naked at the time). Then I saw it, on Lonsdale Street, Braddon, a lovely two-hour free car park. I didn't get the job.Four
In September 2005 I was living in Jindabyne, NSW. I'd had a terrible pizza the night before and needed a public toilet fast! The town was busy and I couldn't find a park anywhere. I was moments from disaster, then, out of the corner of my eye I saw a car park. It was a loading zone, 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. It was Sunday at 10am, the spot was mine.Three
It was summer 2001, I was looking for a car park in the beautiful NSW town Batemans Bay. I was due to start my Woolies shift in just three minutes. The car park was chockers with holiday goers, off the cuff, I decide to park in the loading dock of Woolies. The bosses were furious, but it was a very nice spot. Two
I was in Adelaide for Fringe in 2021. Stupidly, I borrowed my friends car and drove into Fringe on a Friday evening. 45 minutes I looked, I was exhausted and ready to give up, when right in front of me on Rundle Road I see a car leave, in I go. I was so happy with the spot I left the car there for the remainder of Fringe (13 days and $2,357 in fines for my friend). One
Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2021, it was a Friday night I'll never forget. Struggling to find a spot, I did laps of the CBD, no spots anywhere. I refuse to pay for parking, so I pushed on. Then I found the best sneaky spot I've ever seen, it was on Little Collins street, just over the intersection of Swanston Street. Loading zone after 7pm, free until 7am. I'll never tell a soul about this one.Daniel Connell plays The Squeaker at Gluttony (Adelaide Fringe) 8-20 March, Swiss Club, Melbourne Town Hall (Melbourne International Comedy Festival) 31 March-24 April and Enmore Theatre (Sydney Comedy Festival) 13-15 May.
