3 Best Things About Comedy With The Aboriginal Comedy Allstars

Aboriginal Comedy Allstars
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

'Aboriginal Comedy Allstars' is back.

This deadly show, which has seen sell-out seasons and glowing reviews around Australia and the UK, returns to Brisbane Comedy Festival (BCF).

The Aboriginal Comedy Allstars of BCF in 2023 are Sean Choolburra, Kevin Kropinyeri, Andy Saunders, Jay Wymarra and 2022 Deadly Funny Winner Janty Blair. It's a show filled with huge belly laughs from the heart of the wide brown land.

Here, a few from this year's line-up list their favourite thing about comedy ahead of the show at Brisbane Powerhouse.

One: (Sean Choolburra)

I think with comedy the art to take the audience on a journey filled with unexpected twists and turns, allowing you to sneak in funny commentary to make the story hilarious.

Two: (Janty Blair)

I get to tap into the aspects of my life and make fun of them in a space of joy, connection and humour from an older woman’s perspective while feeling accepted and appreciated.

Three: (Andy Saunders)

I love the art of comedy because it can be used in any situation: kidnaps, cooking, teaching ants how to do parkour, biting the elderly, being an accountant, doing stuff at the beach or on the land, while you’re drinking water or gravy. Comedy is the most versatile of all word play and will be for at least a few more months.

'Aboriginal Comedy Allstars' plays Brisbane Powerhouse (Brisbane Comedy Festival) 26-28 May.
