Yoko Ono In Sydney

Yoko Ono
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Yoko Ono will appear on stage in Sydney for the first time as part of the stellar Ideas At The House program.

The 80-year-old performance artist will appear 'In Conversation' and is expected to talk for 90 minutes in a career-spanning chat on Sunday November 17. Sydney will also be the only city in Australia to host her exhibition, War Is Over! (if you want it), spanning five decades of her conceptual art.

Once described by her late husband John Lennon as "the world's most famous unknown artist", Ono is almost certainly best known for her marriage to the Beatle, but remains a potent creative force in her own right.

"Yoko Ono has been a pioneering artist all her life," Ideas At The House curator Ann Mossop said. "As a conceptual artist, as a musician, as a collaborator with others — and as the recent success of her Meltdown Festival at the Southbank in London shows, she is still vitally engaged in art and activism. Her talk as part of Ideas At The House is a unique opportunity to hear her talk about her work, her ideas and her extraordinary life."
