World Press Photo Exhibition Returns to Brisbane

World Press Photo
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The massive world tour that is the World Press Photo Exhibition will drop by Brisbane in June as part of its annual 45-country, 12-month tour.

If you're a photographer looking for inspiration, you'll get it by the bucketload at this exhibition, where a selection of the best international snappers have their work on show.

The free display, which features the category winners of this year's World Press Photo contest, will be housed in the Powerhouse, and showcase the most brilliant and moving images from photojournalists, press photographers, and documentary photographers all over the world.

Photos range from Photo of the Year 2012 winner and Swede Paul Hansen's heart-wrenching snap of men in Palestinian Territories carrying the bodies of two young children through Gaza streets, to Australian Chris McGrath's more uplifting shots of the action at the 2012 London Olympics.

The exhibition first graced Brisbane in 2007, and has been an annual fixture at the Powerhouse each year since.

The 2013 exhibit opened in World Press's home base of Amsterdam on April 26, and will visit Sydney following its Brisbane stint.
