Prepare to be captivated. The West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO) is launching a dazzling line-up of special events in 2026.

From epic film scores, to Broadway class. . . Audiences will be thrilled, inspired, and united.

In 2026, the WASO At The Movies series sees the orchestra perform ‘Jurassic World’ and ‘How To Train Your Dragon’, as never before – projected in HD with a full symphony orchestra performing the iconic scores live, to film.

One of the world’s finest Wagner conductors, Asher Fisch, will lead an all-star cast in a powerful concept performance of ‘The Flying Dutchman’. This dramatic tale of love, fate, and redemption, will be brought to life by celebrated British baritone Christopher Maltman as the Dutchman, exciting young American bass David Leigh as Daland, and acclaimed soprano Anna-Louise Cole as Senta.

Next, audiences can explore the magical world of Joe Hisaishi (behind the soundtracks to some of Studio Ghibli’s most beloved films including ’Spirited Away’ and ‘My Neighbour Totoro’), with conductor Nicholas Buc, pianist Aura Go, and hosts Dan Golding and Andrew Pogson, in an enchanting, screen-free concert.

Then, glorious voices resound in two choral concerts featuring the WASO Chorus. Experience the eternal beauty of choral music in the tranquil surrounds of St Mary’s Cathedral, during ‘WASO Chorus Sings: Devotion’. Later in the year, the Chorus is joined by Perth mezzo-soprano soloist Ruth Burke for Karl Jenkins’ ‘The Armed Man’.

Big fans of Broadway will get their fill with an unforgettable night of showtunes with West End stars Amy Manford and Josh Piteman, celebrating the best of musical theatre canon including hits from the likes of ‘Les Miserables’, ‘The Phantom Of The Opera’, ‘The Sound Of Music’, and more.
