Tragic Trivia: Games, Glitter And Gags In Brisbane

Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

It may be a new year, but never fear!

Tragic Trivia is making a triumphant, sensational return to Backbone's new venue, East Brisbane Bowls Club.

It brings with it a flamboyance of fabulous drag kings and queens including Quiche Lorraine, Richie LeStrange and Christina Draguilera for a night of fun and category is... Heaven and Hell.

Tragic Trivia was born in 2017 when the SUI Ensemble kicked it off as a fundraiser for their theatrical endeavours. The ensemble have been creating immersive works of theatre for over five years and will tour their most recent creation 'La Silhouette' to London. Tragic Trivia is a great way to support emerging local artists and have a great time.

Here, Richie, Christina and Quiche answer a few questions.

Are you from heaven, or hell?
Richie: I’m an angel who got lost and somehow stumbled his way into hell. I like it here, it’s toasty warm.
Christina: The Space Queen herself is beyond the limits of human religion. She exists in the cosmos, the infinite, the universe.
Quiche: I may be on fire all the time, but I’m from HEAVEN baby!

Drag performer to look out for in 2019?
Richie: There’s too many to mention! Some of my absolute favourite drag stars who are on the rise are definitely Solar Flair who not just an incredible drag queen but also a wonderful event producer, and Luna Thicc who is wild on stage.
Christina: There are so many beautifully talented Drag entertainers in Brisbane, if I were to mention just a few, these come to mind. Miss Velvet Heart is on the rise babies!! Also of course any of the babies from #HausofSpace, but also special mentions to Miss Luna Thicc and the Thicc Shake Crew! I am continuously inspired by Miss Selma Soul, she is breaking down the conventions of perceived drag.
uiche: My drag heros are Scarlet Fever and Sellma Soul - they have more talent in their tucks than I have in my whole body.

Who should represent Australia in the 2019 'Eurovision' contest?
Richie: Electric Fields – If you haven’t heard them yet buy their album on iTunes and thank me later.
hristina: Correct – Electric Fields! But next year it should be The Architects of SOUND!
uiche: I volunteer as tribute.

TV show to binge watch when tragedy hits in 2019?
Richie: I’m very big into true crime, so I love binge watching shows like 'Mind Hunter' on Netflix.
Christina: I’m all about lists, I’ve compiled one for several you should watch immediately:
'Game Of Thrones'
'American Horror Story'
'Titans DC' (just released)
'Claws' (Stan)
'American Gods'
'The Shanara Chronicles'
'Charmed' (the original)
'She-Ra Princess Of Power'
'Wentworth'
'X-FILES' #DanaKnows
Quiche: As an artists, naturally, I’m too poor to own a television. But I do love to pull out my ‘Little Mermaid’ jigsaw from when I was nine. Ariel’s left booby shell is missing, but she still looks fabulous.

What are you most looking forward to doing while on tour in London?
Richie: I’m excited to see some drag shows, and to show Londoners how Brisbanites do it.
Christina: I am excited to bring Christina to LONDON! I am excited to take Tragic Trivia to London. I am excited to share the experience with the #HausofSpace and the SUI Ensemble. I am also excited to catch-up with Brisbane’s very own Miss Holly Spirit!
Quiche: Personally, I can’t wait to learn how to walk on cobblestoned roads in heels. Oh, and the theatre!

Tragic Trivia is on at East Brisbane Bowls Club on 2 February (and also 2 March).
