Five-time Tony Award winning production ‘Titanic The Musical’ will play a limited and exclusive season in Melbourne at the landmark Melbourne Town Hall.
‘Titanic The Musical: In Concert’ features a 26-piece orchestra and a talented Australian cast starring Anthony Warlow. The shows will mark the 110th anniversary of the ‘unsinkable ship’.
“I am thrilled to be coming back to Melbourne to perform this incredible show at the iconic Melbourne Town Hall. I was drawn to this show mainly because of the extraordinary score and the fact that this concert version will allow audiences to experience the music in all its splendour with a lavish and sumptuous 26-piece orchestra. I am truly looking forward to being on that stage and to collectively feel the power of music alongside my fellow performers and our audiences,” Anthony Warlow says.
The RMS Titanic, a luxury steamship, set sail 110 years ago on its maiden voyage for what was supposed to be an easy passage. Of the 2224 passengers and crew on board, more than 1500 lost their lives when the ship hit an iceberg making it the deadliest peacetime sinking of a superliner or cruise ship.
‘Titanic the Musical: In Concert’ tells the tales of those on board. Each passenger had their own dreams, stories and ambitions. The event will offer audiences a chance to get to know these passengers through songs and stories.
Director Theresa Borg leads the all-Australian creative team alongside musical director Stephen Gray and Jason Bovaird in charge of lighting design. ‘Titanic The Musical: In Concert’ is proudly produced by The Marrollo Project.
“I am proud to be producing and presenting this event at the iconic Melbourne Town Hall. Together with an extraordinary and hardworking creative team, we have assembled an incredibly talented and diverse cast, led by none other than one of Australia's most formidable voices, Mr Anthony Warlow. Backed by a live, 26-piece orchestra, we are delighted to invite audiences to hear this incredible score and experience live performance once again,” Paul Marrollo says.
The production features music by Maury Yeston (‘Nine’) and a book by Peter Stone (‘Woman Of The Year’ and ‘1776’). This duo have won an Academy Award, an Emmy Award, an Olivier Award and three Tony awards collectively.
‘Titanic The Musical: In Concert’ plays Melbourne Town Hall 4-6 November.
