The 50th anniversary production of ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ continues its Australian run, as it adds to its extraordinary line-up of narrators (including Richard O’Brien, Myf Warhurst, Joel Creasey and Nicholas Hammond) with Gretel Killeen.
After triumphant seasons in 2023, and due to phenomenal demand, the 50th anniversary world tour of ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ has continued its global celebrations. Gretel Killeen will play its final Narrator this May. This marks a return for Gretel after a stint in the role in 2008. She’s a best-selling author, television host, and award-winning comedy writer. She was the first host of Australia’s ‘Big Brother’, and has since appeared on hundreds of television shows including ‘The Masked Singer’, ‘Go Back To Where You Came From’, ‘Celebrity Come Dine With Me’ and ‘The Project’.
“I first appeared as the Narrator in ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ in 2008,” Gretel says. “It was an extraordinary experience so I’m really excited to reprise the role and celebrate this iconic and perennially inspiring musical’s 50th birthday with this glorious cast in 2024.”
Jason Donovan stars in this production as Frank N Further, as well as Stellar Perry, Blake Bowden, Deirdre Khoo, Henry Rollo, Darcey Eagle, Ellis Dolan, and Daniel Erbacher.
‘The Rocky Horror Show’ has become one of the world’s favourite musicals. It’s the only contemporary rock musical to celebrate 50 years on stage, and has been seen by more than 30 million people in more than 30 countries. It features party floor-filler ‘The Time Warp’, which remains a key to its success over the past 50 years.
‘The Rocky Horror Show’ is now playing in Sydney. Peter Helliar stars as the Narrator until 3 May. Gretel Killeen plays the Narrator from 4-12 May.
