From the creators of fringe hits 'Blanc de Blanc' and 'LIMBO' comes a follow-up to a sell-out show set to bring even more magic, mischief and mayhem.
'The Purple Rabbit Rides Again' from Strut & Fret makes its debut at Adelaide Fringe in 2023, and features new international cast members and new surprises.
“'The Purple Rabbit Rides Again' is the new sequel show to last year's late night hit 'The Purple Rabbit'. We're keeping the same mind-blowing tricks and WTF energy, but with new acts and artists for 2023,” Strut & Fret Founding Director Scott Maidment says.
The original 'The Purple Rabbit' was born when award-winning magician and comedian Dom Chambers approached self-proclaimed “producers of the most wild and insane shows that have ever existed” – Strut & Fret – wanting to create “the wildest, most insane magic show ever”.
“This time we're adding even more variety to the show with artists like Angie Sylvia, a fire artist and burlesque performer from Sweden, and Pipsa Ilpala, an award-winning foot juggler from Finland, both of whom are making their Fringe debut.”
In the sequel to this wild production, audiences can expect a smorgasbord of light, mystery, drama, weirdness, and magic. According to Dom Chambers, you should take everything you think you know about magic shows and throw it out the window.
“I would describe it as the performers in this show being the outcasts of the magic world,” Dom describes. “These are the people that don’t fit in with elite magic societies, they’re not going to be part of magic show line-ups, they’re really all defining what a magician is in their own way.”
“We know that Adelaide audiences head to the Fringe to see things that they would never normally see,” Scott adds, “and that's what we're delivering with this new show. We're bringing together acts and talents from all over the world, to create a unique experience that redefines what a magic show can be.”
'The Purple Rabbit Rides Again' plays The Vagabond at The Garden of Unearthly Delights (Adelaide Fringe) 17 February-19 March.
