From sexy Stormtroopers to wicked Wizard of Oz girls, Russall Beattie's new show, 'Dames Of Throne' is sure to set alight a fire in people, hotter than wildfire. We spoke with creator of the 'Games Of Throne' burlesque parody.
Some people call you the 'King of Burlesque' - do you claim this title?
I think that was given to me as a bit of a joke. But what the hell, I'll claim it. Purely for the fact I have been doing it for over ten years now. Most promoters have moved on from doing burlesque shows after a few years.
What gave you the idea to turn classics like 'Star Wars' and 'Batman' into burlesque shows?
Mainly I wanted to keep myself interested in doing shows. I wanted to combine some of my other passions and try to do something different, but as you can see if you Google these types of shows form around the world II was not the only one.
What's the most challenging and the most reward aspect of being a creative director?
Being the last to be paid... just kidding, mainly being the answer to every questions. But thank God I like the sound of my own voice. So it works for me.
Your new show, 'Dames Of Throne', is based off of 'Game Of Thrones' which is already super sexual, did that make it easier or harder?
Harder, we had to bring in more comedy and other aspects to offset the sexiness that the fans are already familiar with from the show.
How did you manage to make gore look sexy?
At the end of the day it's just more body fluids being spilt, right? Anyone?
Please tell me King Joffrey gets killed?
You will have to buy a ticket to find out.
Who's your favourite 'Game Of Thrones' character?
Bronn. I think the show does so much more with him than the books.
Do you have plans to tour internationally?
Yes, we are working a USA tour at the moment for 'Empire Strips Back'.
Would you consider turning 'The Walking Dead' into a show?
No... never. I did do a zombie show once and it becomes pretty repetitive very quickly. Although I would like to see Michonne in an act.
What do you do when you aren't creating amazing shows and directing beautiful gals and guys?
I own a music venue, manage bands, produce books and write comics.
