The Australian Burlesque Festival Celebrates 13 Years

The Australian Burlesque Festival
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The Australian Burlesque Festival celebrates 13 years in 2022.

The festival lands in Brisbane this month with two huge shows at the iconic Princess Theatre in Woolloongabba.

Renowned internationally for its unique array of theatrical, glamorous and avant-garde styles from talented entertainers, Australian Burlesque Festival has been loved by audiences around the country since 2009. There’s glamorous tease, exciting neo-burlesque and exotic seduction. It’s the largest touring burlesque festival in the Southern Hemisphere and a unique experience uniting burlesque artists from all over Australia.

It all began in late 2009 – The Australian Burlesque Festival was born out of a passion to celebrate Australia’s outstanding burlesque community. Burlesque star Dolores Daiquiri continues to operate as the sole owner, director and producer.

Flash forward to today, and the festival continues its tradition of producing high quality shows to sold out audiences. Each year gets bigger and the 2022 iteration will be even more lavish, exciting and fun for audiences and performers alike.
