A brand-new, professional theatre is opening in the heart of Sydney’s Inner West – Teatro At The Italian Forum.

Teatro is a 300-seat venue in the historic Italian Forum at Leichhardt. It will offer world-class, fully staged musicals, and professional productions.

Led by internationally acclaimed theatre creatives Nathan M. Wright and Andrew Bevis, Teatro will bring Broadway and West End titles to local audiences, starting with ‘The Addams Family’ in October, followed by the Australian premiere of ‘The Prom’ in 2026.

Teatro is the Italian word for theatre. The venue fills a crucial gap in Sydney’s cultural landscape and offers a permanent home, for professionally-produced musicals.

“We’re creating the kind of theatre venue Sydney is crying out for — bold, professional and artist-led,” Nathan M. Wright says. “Teatro is here to raise the bar for what audiences can expect from musical theatre in the Inner West.”

Alongside public productions, Teatro will also house an in-residence company, THEatreBRIDGE. Here, Australia’s leading stage professionals will mentor and train the next generation of musical theatre stars.

On Your Feet and Teatro will proudly present the darkly delightful ‘The Addams Family’ musical. It’ll be a fully-staged production, brought to life by new Australian musical theatre stars – many, graduates of the THEatreBRIDGE programme. Then there’ll be the hit Broadway musical, ‘The Prom’, in 2026. . . Which is sure to strike a chord with the diverse and inclusive spirit of the Inner West community.

“We are beyond excited to bring ‘The Prom’ to Australia for the first time,” Wright says. “It’s a show that’s full of joy, heart, and positivity, with themes of community, self-expression and acceptance. We believe it’s the perfect fit for the vibrant and inclusive community that we’re looking forward to serving here at Teatro.”

“We want Teatro to be a home for artists, audiences, and everyone in between,” Andrew Bevis adds. “This is a space where people can come together, share their stories, and experience the power of live theatre. We’re committed to providing a platform for emerging talent and creating a place that reflects the diverse, creative spirit of our community.”

‘The Addams Family’ opens at Teatro At The Italian Forum (Sydney) from 3 October.
