Bringing you the most delicious in music, drag, performance, comedy and art that Brisbane has to offer, Candy Social Club is a night that puts Brisbane’s incredible and diverse arts scene on a platter for you to revel in.
Held monthly at Backbone, Candy Social Club’s mission is to provide a platform that elevates, amplifies, and brings together.
“There’s quite a few alternative events popping up all over the city,” Candy Social Club organiser Sampson Smith says.
“It’s amazing for artists and audiences alike. I think it’s important to be aware of what’s missing in the scene, and to create inclusive spaces that effectively respond to that.”

“We get asked a lot; why do we run Backbone, an arts space, out of an old bowls club?” Sampson laughs. “I think the bowls club is a really welcoming space that has a very special vibe to it. We have so many different groups who use it, and they get to take it over and make it completely their own. That’s very unique in Brisbane, and we’re proud to provide that space.”
Candy Social Club will be throwing a masquerade ball in August with artists such as Brisbane’s very own epic electro-pop group Love Moves, a fusion of burlesque and drag with Tahlia Novella, and more to be announced soon.
